Advanced EMS
Our ambulances are equipped to support high-level prehospital care, including ventilators, IV pumps, power cots, and Stryker Power-LOAD systems. Progressive protocols allow our clinicians to use their training and provide advanced care in the field.
Special Operations
Personnel have opportunities to train and serve with active specialty teams, including:
- Swift water rescue
- Boat operations

Train to Perform
Strong performance starts with strong training. Gilmer County Fire/Rescue operates a dedicated training center with a live-fire burn building and provides regular hands-on training designed to prepare personnel for the incidents they will face in the field.

- 18 years or older, valid driver's license
- High school diploma or GED
- Georgia EMT certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Pass physical agility, background, and medical screening
How hiring works.

Apply online
Applications are handled through the county's hiring portal. It takes a few minutes and you can start it from your phone.
Physical agility test
A job-related physical assessment. If you want to know what to train for before you apply, call us and ask — we would rather you show up ready than not show up at all.
Background check and medical screening
Standard for any public safety position in Georgia.
Academy and certification
In many cases, we can have you on shift in just a few weeks. If you are not already a certified Georgia EMT, you have 12 months from hire to earn it.
